Research Interests

Help-Seeking

Negative societal labels and internalized stigma can hinder people from seeking professional help for their mental health concerns.  I am interested in better understanding how these barriers work, so we can develop interventions to mitigate them

Personal Values

Values can represent both personal standards as well as aspirations that we strive for.  I am interested in examining the connection between the values that people consider most important and their attitudes, especially help-seeking attitudes.

Individual Differences

Individual differences variables such as narcissism can influence peoples' willingness to provide and receive help. Currently, I am examining how two orthogonal dimensions of narcissism-- grandiosity and vulnerability--affect prosocial and help-seeking behaviors.
